Tudela, #Cebu

Tudela municipality belongs to the 5th District of the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2007 census, it has a population of 11,266 people.

Tudela is 8 kilometers away from the town of Poro. Along with the town of Poro, Tudela is located on the island of Poro. Roman Catholics are dominant in the town and annually celebrate the fiesta of parish patron Immaculate Conception on December 8. Local dialect (Cebuano) is entirely spoken all over the town which is exactly similar with the mainland's vernacular dialect.

The town proper is divided into two barangays: Northern and Southern Poblacion. The nearly symmetrical arrangement of the streets allows pedestrians to navigate easily while viewing old houses (ca. 1900s) standing side-by-side with new ones.

Transportation

Tudela may be reached by boat through Poro port. A large pump boat typically takes 3 1/2 hours from Danao City pier. A fastcraft (called Golden Bridge) takes 1 1/2 hour from Pier 1, Cebu City. The slowest option is a ship that takes 5 hours from Pier 1, Cebu City. Motorcycles and an occasional jeepney or two are available for ground transportation. A fare of 50 pesos (PHP) per person (motorcycle or jeepney) is enough for the ride from Poro to Tudela (fare rate as of June 2008).
